current position:

I work as Reliability Engineer at Intel Corporation.

words to say:

I received my PhD at Georgia Institute of Technology. My thesis is " Electronic, Thermoelectric and Vibrational Properties of Silicon Nanowires and Copper Chalcogenides "

Kuan-Sen Lin (林冠燊)

Research Assistant

current position:

I am currently a Physics Ph.D. student in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ( 09/2018 - present ). My current research field is Condensed Matter Theory. My general interest is the material properties dictated by symmetry, interaction and internal degrees of freedom.

words to say:

I received by BS in Materials Science and Physics from NTU in 2017. I was originally a Materials Science student but shifted my interest to Physics in my 4th year of undergraduate study. The 2-year research experience in Prof. Chou's lab has not only guided me into the field of topological physics and low-dimensional materials, but also helped me find my interest in theoretical science.

Benjamin K Chang (張光遠)

Research Assistant

current position:

I am currently a Ph.D student in Applied Physics at the California Institute of Technology. I have a general interest in quantum physics and computation.

words to say:

I have spent three years in Prof. Chou's lab doing research on thermoelectric materials using first-principles calculations. I am deeply grateful for Prof. Chou's guidance, which helped me not only find my passion in science, but learn how to become a real scientist.

Hao-Hsu (徐豪)

Research Assistant

current position:

I currently pursue my PhD degree in Julich Research Center in Germany. My project is to investigate and optimize the efficiency of a quantum circuit refrigerator aimed to cool down quantum circuits like superconducting qubits.

Tzu-Chi Hsieh (謝子祺)

Research Assistant

current position:

I am currently a PhD student in Physics at CU Boulder. I have a general interest in the theoretical study of both and hard condensed matters.

Justin Hou (侯宗誠)

MS Student

current position:

I am currently a PhD student in MIT EECS. My current research field is Spintronics (experiment). I am generally interested in Applied Physics research which may have technological applications. I collaborate with research groups in Physics department.

words to say:

I received dual BS degrees in EE and Physics from NTU in 2015. The research experience in Prof. Chou's group not only gave me a solid training on theory and calculations in solid state physics, but also helped me find my interest in Applied Physics research.

Ho-Chun Lin (林合俊)

MS Student

current position:

I am currently pursue my EE PhD degree in University of Southern California. My research field is experimental and computational electromagnetic. My current project is to solve the Maxwell's equations under specific conditions and explore how the fields interact with the materials.

words to say:

I had worked with Professor Chou on computational physics for four years. The research experience triggers me to learn how to do real research and be a scholar. In addition to research, i also learned a lots from Professor Chou, such as time management and self-discipline.

Kuan-Hung Liu (劉冠宏)

MS Student

current position:

I work as TCAD Application Engineer at Synopsys.

Po-Tung Fang(方柏棟)

MS Student

current position:

我在宇匯科技擔任軟體工程師。

words to say:

Yi-Chun Chen (陳宜駿)

Undergraduate Student

current position:

I am a PhD student at UCLA Anderson School of Management. My broad research interest is in operations research. My research has focused on optimization methods, algorithms, statistical learning, and their applications in assortment optimization.

words to say:

I received my bachelor degree is physics from National Taiwan University, and master degree in applied mathematics from Stanford University.

I  had worked with Professor Chou on computational physics as undergraduate assistant. The two-year research experience in lab was a turning point for me. I found my interests in numerical methods and computation. In addition, i learned the characters of self-discipline, mental toughness, and humility from Professor Chou.

Hong-Yi Chen (陳弘毅)
